Petras Saulenas - Horizon: Nida
Whole contact print merges 17 seascapes, taken on a film. Thin horizon line connects all of them and implies chain of repeating events. Photographer and a camera are just passer-by, capturing crossed distances on one film. And you can hear voice of appearing horizon – promise of order, repetition and stability it gives you. But isn’t horizon grounded only in your perception, as a boundary of the range you can possibly cover by seeing? Is it boundaries of your perception what you rely on, as something always there for you – as a promise of stability and realness.
17 seascapes merge. 16 fragments give rupture to repetition, each revealing possibility to create new reality. Horizon stays.
The event has ended.
